Corticosteroids

Inhaled Corticosteroids Anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive agents (decreases sputum eosinophilia) with direct and indirect bronchodilating effects.
Fluticasone (Flovent) MDI dosage Every 12 hrs
Fluticasone (Flovent) DPI dosage Every 12 hrs.
Beclomethasone Brand names Beclovent, Vanceril, QVAR
Beclomethasone MDI dosage 2-4 times/day
Budesonide (Pulmicort) DPI and unit dose vials 1-2 times/day
Prednisone oral steroid used systemically to decrease the inflammatory process
Methylprednisolone IV steroid used for patients in status asthmaticus, COPD
