Force and Motion

air resistance (drag) a force acting opposite to the relative motion of any object moving with respect to a surrounding fluid
balanced forces all forces are equally acting upon an object
force a push or pull acting on an object
friction the force caused by the rubbing of two surfaces
gravity a non-contact force of attraction between two objects
inertia the resistance of any physical object to any change in its velocity
magnitude (strength) a value relative to some contextually understood reference value
mass the amount of matter something has, measured in grams or kilograms
motion when an object changes its position over time consists of speed and direction and uses a reference point
Net Force sum of forces acting upon an object
position location of object
Reference Point a starting point or location for reference
Speed the rate of change
Stationary still or not moving
Unbalanced Forces a force acting upon an object causing it to move or change its motion
Velocity the rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference
Weight the force that gravitation exerts upon a body
