TermDefinition
parallels of latitude are imaginary circles that run around the Earth parallel to the equator
meridians of longitude are imaginary half-circles that run between the geographic North Pole and South Pole.
absolute location an exact location on Earth.
latitude describes a location on Earth’s surface in relation to the equator.
longitude describes a location on Earth’s surface in relation to the Prime Meridian.
latitude The equator is this type of line
longitude The Prime Meridian is this type of line
latitude These lines measure distance north and south of the equator
latitude These lines run around Earth parallel to the equator
longitude These lines measure distance east and west of the Prime Meridian.
longitude These lines run between the geographic North and South Poles.
