| solvent | greater part of a solution that dissolves a solute |
| suspension | solution in which the powder does not dissolve into the base and must be shaken before use |
| triturate | to grind and crush powder into fine particles |
| periodic automatic replacement | minimum set amount of stock that needs to be kept on hand |
| cream | hydrophilic base |
| solute | ingredient that is dissolved into a solution |
