group a vertical column of elements in the periodic tabls; elements in a group share chemical properties
Alkali Metals one of the elements of group one of the periodic tbale (lithuim, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, and francium)
Alkaline-earth metal one of the elements of Group 2 of the periodic table (beryllium, magnesuim, clacuim, strontium, barrium, and radium)
Halogen one of the elements of Group 17 of the Periodic table (flourine, chlorine, bromine, idodine, and astanine) halogens combine with most metals to make salts
