Force and Motion
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Kinetic Energy | Energy present when an object moves |
| Mass | Amount of matter in an object |
| Velocity | Speed in a given direction |
| Newton's First Law of Motion | An object at rest tends to stay at rest; and object in motion tends to stay in motion |
| Newton's Second Law of Motion | Acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the amount of force applied |
| Newton's Third Law of Motion | For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction |
| Electricity | Presence and flow of electrons in one direction |
| Magnetism | Motion of electric charges which attract or repel objects |
| Magnetic Field | Region near or a magnet in which magnetic force acts on any other magnet |
| Potential Energy | Stored energy |
| Speed | Way of measuring how quickly something is moving (s=d/t) |
| Energy | Power to do work |
| Static Electricity | Imbalanced of electric charges on a surface |
| Electric Field | Surrounds electric charge |
| Sir Isaac Newton | Formulated the 3 basic laws of motion and discovered gravity |
