| Bactericidal | Kills the microorganisms |
| Antibacterials | Unlike antibiotics - are not synthesized from microorganisms, usually bacteriostatic, but some are considered bactericidal |
| Urinary Anti-infectives | Concentrated in the urine and are used for urinary tract infections (UTI's) |
| Antibiotics | Synthesized by microorganisms - grown, can be bactriostatic or bactricidal (Penicillins, Cephalosporins) |
| Antifungals | To treat topical and systemic fungal infections |
| Antiparasitic agents | To treat parasitic infections |
| Antihelminthics | Worm Infections |
| Amebicides | Amoeba Infections |
| Antitubercular Agents | To treat tuberculosis - combination therapy wuth several agents is usually required to avoid resistance, purified protien derivative is an agent used to detect tubercular infections |
