Sprits Alcohol solution with volatile oils
Syrups No alcohol. Heavy solution of sugar and water
Tinctures Solution of alcohol and water. Active ingredient is 10-20%
Enteric Does not dissolve in the stomach. Formulated so that its decreases chance of GI irritation
Suspension Liquid containing dissolved particles. Must be shaken befor use
Sublingual Medication places under the tongue
Parenteral Administration of a drug other than oral method
Prescription Legal document- written order from physician to pharmacist
Subscription Directions to the pharmacist for compounding
Superscription Name, address, Rx symbol
Signatura Directions to the patient
