7 Principles
7 Principles of the Constitution
| Term | Definition |

| Popular Sovereignty | The power to govern comes from the people. |
| Republicanism | The people elect representatives to make laws and conduct government. |
| Federalism | Power is shared between the national and state governments. |
| Individual Rights | Personal liberties and freedoms that people are naturally born with. (unalienable rights) |
| Separation of Powers | The power of the government is divided into 3 branches |
| Checks and Balances | Each of the three branches can make sure government is run fairly by making sure one does not become too powerful. |
| Limited Government | The government only interferes within the lives of citizens when necessary and has powers restricted by the Constitution |
| Congress makes laws for the nation | Separation of Powers |
