| Popular Sovereignty | The power to govern comes from the people.

| Checks and Balances | Each of the three branches can make sure government is run fairly by making sure one does not become too powerful.

| Limited Government | The government only interferes within the lives of citizens when necessary and has powers restricted by the Constitution
