| URL | Uniform Resource Locator - this is a web address |
| CPU | central processing unit - the brains of the computer |
| APP | application, a small specialized program usually on a phone or tablet |
| RAM | random access memory |
| banner | advertisement on a website |
| output device | any machine capable of representing information, such as a printer or monitor |
| input device | any machine that feeds data into a computer, such as a keyboard or mouse |
| data | individual facts, statistics or items of information |
| blog | short for web log, like a personal journal or diary |
| avatar | an image that represents a person on the internet |
| website | a connected group of pages on the internet that are about the same of similar topic |
| hyperlink | an element in an electronic document that links to a website |
| bookmark | also called a favorite, a link to a web address saved electronically to find later |
| netiquette | manners on the internet |
| post | a message published in an online group such as Facebook or Twitter |
| menu bar | a horizontal menu of options usually with a pull down menu |
| Boolean search | using modifiers such as AND, NOT, and OR to narrow down search results |
| keyword | a word used by a search engine when it's looking for related web pages |
| Web browser | a software application used to locate content on the internet - Internet Explorer, Google, Firefox, and Safari are examples |
| wiki | a website that allows anyone to add, delete, or revise content by using a web browser |
| webpage | a single, usually hyperlinked document on the internet |
| search engine | programs that search documents for specified keywords and returns a list of documents where keywords are found. |
