Claim writer’s position/view
Thesis Statement controlling idea over an entire piece of writing
Tone the author’s feeling in a given selection
Organizational Structure the set up or how a piece of writing is put together
Coherence ideas that flow together smoothly and consistently
Opposing Claim (Counter) evidence to disprove a viewpoint
Rebuttal statement that follows the counter that emphasizes the original claim
Logical Progression writing that makes sense from intro to conclusion
Appropriate Style writing that is written the correct way
Credible Support a reliable source
Precise Language exact language written in a formal way
Language Facility putting ideas into words and forming meaningful sentences
Objective Tone straightforward, factual info: no bias present
Subjective Tone opinionated tone; bias is present
