| acceleration | a vehicle's capacity to gain speed within a short time. |
| displacement | the moving of something from its place or position. |
| speed (distance x time) | To solve for speed or rate use the formula for speed |
| mass | Mass is both a property of a physical body and a measure of its resistance to acceleration |
| inertia | a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged. |
| average speed | The average speed of an object is the total distance traveled by the object divided by the elapsed time to cover that distance. |
| momentum | the quantity of motion of a moving body, measured as a product of its mass and velocity. |
| velocity | the speed of something in a given direction. |
| newton's 3 laws | Newton's three laws of motion may be stated as follows: Every object in a state of uniform motion will remain in that state of motion unless an external force acts on it. Force equals mass times acceleration |
