Slope The increase in toxic response for given increase in dose
Nuclear Fission The splitting of the nucleus of an atom, with the release of energy
Organic Chemical Any of a large group chemicals that includes most carbon-containing chemicals
Radiation Energy that is radiated from a source as particles or as waves
Mutation A change to the DNA of a cell
Hazard A factor that causes harm or may cause harm
Exposure Contact of an environmental toxicant with the human envelop
Cilia Tiny finger-like protrusions of the cells that line the trachea and bronchi
Carcinogen A substance that increase the risk of cancer
Bacteria Single-celled microorganism's, smaller than protozoa and containing DNA but no true nucleus.
