Law of Conservation of Mass

chemical reaction a process that involves a rearrangement of atoms, molecules, or ions.
Law of Conservation of Mass mass is neither created nor destroyed
balanced chemical equation same number of each element on both sides of the equation
mass of products equals mass of reactants
coefficients numbers that are before the formula
reactants what goes in (usually on the left hand side of the chemical equation)
products what comes out (usually on the right hand side of the chemical equation)
Open system Matter can enter or escape the system
Closed system Matter is not allowed to enter or leave the system.
