| Habit 4 | Think Win-Win, essential to your meaningful life. Can't win unless others win as well. |
| Win-Lose | "I'll beat you no matter what." High on courage, low on consideration. |
| Lose-Win | "I always get stepped on." Low on courage, high on consideration. |
| Lose-Lose | "If I'm going down, you're going down with me." If ya can't win, no one else can. Revenge way of things. Low on both courage and consideration. |
| Win-Win | "We're going to win together." High in both courage and consideration. |
| Find out what a deposit is for the other person | What you think is a deposit for the other person may in fact be a withdrawal in their mind. You won't know unless you find out. |
| Do small acts of kindness | Another deposit is to treat people with kindness. |
| Keep Promises | Nothing bankrupts the emotional bank account (EBA) faster than to break a serious promise. Be very careful when making promises. |
| Keep Confidences | When someone shares something with you in confidence, keep it that way. |
| Be loyal to the absent | Stick up for people. If you hear someone badmouthing a friend, speak up. |
| Set clear expectations | Don't leave things fuzzy. |
| Apologize | If you're in the wrong, admit it now. |
| Forgive | Learn to forgive and forget so that you don't keep hurting yourself the way you were hurt. |
