| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Energy Transformations | The change of energy from one form to another |
| Conductor | A substance that readily transfers heat or electrical energy |
| Insulator | A material that does not conduct heat or electrical current |
| Kinetic Energy | Energy of motion |
| Chemical Energy | The energy from reactions in chemical compounds |
| Electrical Energy | A form of energy made available by the flow of charged particles through a conductor |
| Radiant Energy | Light Energy |
| Mechanical Energy | The sum of the potential and kinetic energy of an object. The energy of motion or the ability to do motion |
| Thermal Energy | The energy related to the temperature of a substance |
| Sound Energy | The energy of vibrating particles that produces sound |
| Law of Conservation of Energy | Energy can neither by created nor destroyed; energy just changes forms |
| Conduction | Transfer of thermal energy that occurs when two substances of different temperatures touch |
| Convection | Heat transfer caused by the rising of hotter, less dense fluids and the falling of cooler, more dense fluids |
| Raditation | The transfer of energy by the movement of electromagnetic waves |
