Conservation of Mass

| Open system | A system that can exchange matter and energy with outside sources. |
| Conservation of Mass | A fundamental principle of science stating that mass cannot be created or destroyed in a closed system through ordinary chemical or physical means. |
| Physical change | A change in matter that does not affect its chemical composition. |
| Products | The substances that are formed during a chemical reaction; in a chemical reaction the arrows point toward the product. |
| Reactants | Two or more constituents of a chemical reaction that react to produce products. |
