Plot Diagram Vocab

vocabulary for the plot diagram

TermDefinition
characters the people, animals, or objects in a story
climax the turning point of a story
rising action suspense builds, the events that lead to the climax
falling action things begin to resolve, events after the climax
resolution the end, how the conflict is resolved
theme the central idea, message, purpose, or moral
conflict a struggle between opposing forces, the problem that the characters face
setting where and when the story takes place
exposition very beginning of a story; characters, setting, and beginning of conflict is revealed
plot the events that make up a story in the order they happen
