Contacts Surface point where two teeth meet,side by side
Anatomical Crown Portion of tooth covered by enamel
Cusp of carabelli Extra cusp present on the lingual surface of the max. first molar
Dentin Main tissue of the tooth, surrounds the pulp
Embrasures Gap area of two teeth, beneath contact area and gingival crest.
Enamel Outer covering of the crown of a tooth
Eruption Growth stage where tooth enters oral cavity
Impaction Covering or interference of normal growth
Incisive Papilla Tissue growth situated in anterior of the palate behind max. centrals
Lamina Dura Membrane covering or lining of tooth area
Malocclusion Irregular or improper occlusion
Median Sagittal plane or midline
Mentum Chin
Motor Nerves Nerves that send impulses for a muscle to move
Occlusion Articulation of teeth
Odontoclasts Cells that break down hard tooth surface, causing resorption
Orbit Eye socket
Periodontal Ligament Ligament attachment around the tooth
Pulp Chamber Open area in the center of the tooth, found in the crown area
Root Bottom part of the tooth, may be single, double or triple-rooted
Sensory Nerves Nerves that carry messages to the brain
Suture A line where 2 or more bones unite; a surgical stitch
Trifurcation Branch seperating into three roots(Maxillary molar)
Vestibule The open gum area between the teeth anc cheek
