| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| wave | a disturbance that transmits energy through matter or space |
| Transverse Wave | A wave in which the process of the wave's medium vibrate perpendicular to the direction the wave is traveling. |
| medium | a substance through which a wave can travel |
| longitudinal wave | A wave in which the particles of the medium vibrate back and forth along the path that waves travel. |
| amplitude | the maximum distance a wave vibrates from its rest position |
| frequency | the number of waves produced in a given amount of time |
| wave length | the distance between one point on a wave and the corresponding point on an adjacent wave in a series of waves. |
| reflection | the bending of a wave after it strikes a barrier of an object |
| refraction | the bending of a wave around a barrier or through an opening |
| diffraction | the bending of waves around a barrier or through an opening |
| absorption | the transfer of energy carried by light waves to particles of matter |
