Archipelago A chain of many islands
Arid Dry and barren; lacking sufficient water for things to grow
Atoll A coral reef surrounding a central lagoon
Aurora Borealis Brilliant lights found in the Northern Hemisphere
Basin A region drained by a river; land largely enclosed by higher land
Bay Part of a body of water which reaches into the land (Smaller than a gulf)
Canal A narrow, man-made channel of water that joins other bodies of water
Canyon A deep, narrow valley with steep sides
Chasm A deep crack in the earth's surface
Cordillera
Delta the land deposited at the mouth of a river
Depression Lowland area, often below sea level, with no drainage outlet
Escarpment A steep slope or cliff
Estuary An inlet or arm of the sea where the tide meets the current
Plateau Tableland, a highland plain or elevated area
Prairie Level or hilly land covered with grass but no trees
Precipice A vertical or overhanging rock, steep cliff
