Process of adjusting schemes in response to the environment by means of assimilation and accommodation. adaptation
Process of understanding a new object or event in terms of an existing scheme. (bang something to learn about it because they have done it before) assimilation
Modify an existing scheme in light of new information or experience. accommodation
Occurs between what is understood and what is encountered. People try to reduce imbalance by focusing on new info and develop or adjust schemes. disequilibrium
Restoring balance. equilibration
Piaget believes that : development precedes learning.
