Definitions of: Attrition, Abrasion, Solution & Hydraulic Action

Attrition Rocks in water get carried by the river and smash into each other and break down to smaller pieces. Over time, they get even smaller & get reduced to fine particles called silt.
Abrasion The river carries stones, which collide with the land (banks) and wear them away
Solution Acids in water slowly dissolve rocks and stones that are carried in the river.
Hydraulic Action The power of water weakens and wears away the soil and the rocks as it hits them.
