| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Temperature | A measure of the average kinetic energy of the individual particles of an object. |
| absolute zero | The temperature at which no more energy can be removed from matter. |
| Celsius | The metric measure for temperature. |
| Kelvin | The temperature scale commonly used in physical science. |
| Conduction | Transferred from one particle of matter to another without the movement of matter itself. |
| Convection | Transferred by the movement of currents with a fluid such as a liquid or a gas. |
| Radiation | Transferred by electromagnetic waves. |
| Conductor | A material that conducts heat well. |
| Insulator | A material that does not conduct heat well. |
| Heat | The transfer of energy between two objects with different temperatures. |
| Heat Transfer | The transfer or flow due to the difference in temperature between two objects. |
| Convection Currents | The flowing fluid that is moving because there is a temperature or density difference within the material. |
| Density | A measurement that compares the amount of matter an object has to its volume. |
| Room Temperature | A range of temperatures that denote comfortable habitation for humans. |
| Cold | The absence or reduction of heat. |
