Physician fuh-ZIH-shun a person skilled in the art of healing, one educated, clinically experienced, and licensed to practice medicine as usually distinguished from surgery.
Pediatrician PEE-dee-ah-TRIH-shun a medical practitioner specializing in children and their diseases.
Surgeon SIR-jen a medical specialist who practices surgery.
Anesthesiologist AN-ehs-THEE-zee-AW-loh-jist a physician with special training in pain sedation and pain control.
Physician Assistant (PA) fuh-ZIH-shun ah-SIS-tant a person certified to provide basic medical services usually under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Nurse Practitioner (NP) NIRS prak-TIH-shun-ner a registered nurse who is qualified through advanced training to assume some of the duties and responsibilities formerly assumed only by a physician.
Dietician dai-ah-TIH-shun a person who is an expert in nutrition or dietetics.
Speech Therapist SPEECH THEH-rah-pist a therapeutic treatment of impairments and disorders of speech, voice, language, communication, and swallowing.
Occupational Therapist aw-kyoo-PAY-shuh-nal THEH-rah-pist therapy based on engagement in meaningful activities of daily life especially to enable or encourage participation in such activities despite impairments or limitations in physical or mental functioning.
Physical Therapist FIH-zih-kal THEH-rah-pist therapy for the preservation, enhancement, or restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disease, injury, or disability that utilizes therapeutic exercise, physical modalities, assistive devices, and patient education.
