Force A push or pull causing an object to change its speed or direction.
Contact Force A force exerted during contact between objects.
Static Friction The fore that resists the start of sliding motion between two surfaces that are touching.
Kinetic Friction The force that resists the movement of two surfaces that are touching AND are moving relative to each other.
Drag A friction-like force that opposes (resists) the motion of an object in fluid or air.
Non Contact Force A force exerted on objects that are not in contact (touching).
Net Force The combination of all the forces acting on an object.
Balanced Forces When net forces acting on a object equal 0 (zero) Newtons. Balanced forces will not cause a change in the motion of a moving object, and objects at rest will remain at rest.
Unbalanced Forces When the net force acting on a object is greater than (>) 0 (zero) Newtons. Unbalanced forces cause a change in the object's motion.
