TermDefinition
Tendonitis Inflammation of a tendon typically associated with acute injury and usually accompanied by pain and swelling
Osteomalacia A disease of adults that is characterized by softening of the bones and analogous to rickets in the young
Aphasia Loss of impairment of the power to use or comprehend word usually resulting from brain damage (as from stroke, head injury, or infection)
Osteopenia Reduction in bone volume to below normal levels especially due to inadequate replacement of bone lost to normal lysis
Sprain A sudden or violent twist or wrench of a joint with stretching or tearing of ligaments
Osteotome A chisel without a bevel that is used for cutting bone
Analgesia Insensibility to pain without loss of consciousness
Osteomyelitis An infectious, usually painful inflammatory disease of bone often of bacterial origin that may result in the death of bone tissue
Polyarthritis Arthritis involving two or more joints
Bradykinesia Extreme slowness of movement and reflexes (such as that caused by Parkinson's Disease or antipsychotic drugs)
Spondylitis Inflammation of the vertebrae
Amnesia Loss of memory due usually to brain injury, shock, fatigue, repression, or illness
Anesthesia Loss of sensation with or without loss of consciousness
Coma A state of profound unconsciousness caused by disease, injury, or poison
Aphagia Loss of ability to swallow
