| What is the difference between the dependent and the independent variable? | The independent variable is the variable that the researcher changes and the dependent variable changes as a result of what the independent variable does. |
| What is a control group? | The group that does not participate in the critical part of the experiment. |
| naturalistic observation | a research method that involves studying subjects without their being aware of being watched |
| sample | a group that represents a larger group |
| survey | a method of research using questions on feelings, opinions, or behavior patterns asked of a large group of people |
