QuestionAnswer
The CRT screen is coated with what? The inside of the CRT screen is coated with rows of tiny, phosphorescent dots.
Describe a modern CRT. The modern CRT is a specialized vacuum tube that's narrow at one end and flares into a wide screen at the other end.
What does the narrow end of the CRT contain? The narrow end of the CRT contains an electron gun which emits a narrow beam of high-speed electrons.
What components are inside the electron gun? Inside the electron gun is a cathode, a control grid, and two anodes.
The advantages of transistors over vacuum tubes are what? They don't require a warm-up period, are less expensive, do not burn out, and are smaller.
How many regions of semiconductor material does a transistor contain? Three regions.
In field-effect transistors, what controls current? Voltage applied to the gate controls current.
In junction transistors, what controls output current? Current controls output current.
Why are IC's easily mass-produced? IC's are easily mass-produced because they are less expensive than similar circuits using larger solid-state components.
