Caracteristicile știrii

ACTUALITATE Știrea descrie ceea ce se petrece acum. Oamenii sunt curioși și doresc să afle ce se întâmplă astăzi în școala, orașul, țara lor și în lume.
PROXIMITATEA Oamenii sunt interesați dacă evenimentele se petrec în apropiere de școala, casa sau serviciul lor.
IMPORTANȚA Chiar dacă un eveniment nu are loc în apropiere, uneori oamenii își doresc să știe dacă acesta le poate influența viața.
Anvergura Ceea ce este mare este observabil și cu impact. (de amploare)
Proeminența Dacă persoane cunoscute sau influente (celebrități, funcționari de stat, etc.) vizitează comunitatea dvs. sau sunt implicați într-un nou proiect – aceasta constituie o știre.
Emoțiile Știrile de interes uman reflectă astfel de emoții ca dragostea, ura, frica, oroarea, empatia sau mila.
Conflictul Confruntările care influențează comunitățile, instituțiile sau țările necesită atenție.
Progresul O descoperire în știință, medicină sau tehnologie sau speranța unei descoperiri constituie o știre.
Unicitatea Neașteptatul, întâietatea sau pur și simplu bizarul pot constitui o pauză de la știrile ”rele” sau pot reflecta schimbările din societate, știință și tehnologie.
