Pineal Gland Where the mind and brain intersect, according to Rene Descartes
Dualism Mind and body/brain are two separate entities of two different kinds of energy, non-physical and physical respectively
Monism Mind and body/brain are of the same kinds of energy, physical.
Materialism Branch of Monism, everything is physical
Mentalism Branch of Monism, everything is fake except the brain where the consciousness is the one who shapes reality
Identity Position Mental Process and Brain Process are same/similar but is described with different terms, like the Mona Lisa (beautiful and technical aspects of it, same subject but different terms used about it).
Physiological Explanation Behaviour in relation with brain and other organ activity
Ontogenetic Explanation Describe how structure of behaviour develops over time, is it genetics? nutrients? experience?
Evolutionary Explanation How structure of behaviour develops explained from a historical evolution perspective.
Functional Explanation Why does the structure of behaviour develop?
Human V.S. Animals (dimensions) Human: follow instructions, human brain, cheaper Animal: less ethical concerns, simpler nervous system, able to be conducted amongst species'
Experiment V.S Non-Experiment (dimensions) Experiment: able to explain causality, more controlled. Non-Experiment: unpredictable, less controlled.
Pure Research V.S Applied Research (dimensions) Pure: satisfy curiosity, concepts and theories Applied: solve problems and answer questions, usually those related to man and animal
