Aristotle Attempted to derive the way the universe is constructed based on deductive logic.
Ptolemy Produced a set of geometrical models based on the epicuycle-deferent system that allowed accurate computation of a planet's future position in the sky & compiled the astronomical records of his predecessors.
St. Thomas Aquinas Created a coherent Christian cosmology based on Aristotle's world view.
Copernicus Fixed the cherency problems by placing the Sun at the center of the system and placing the Earth with the other planets in orbit around it.
Tycho Established an observatory where he spent 30 years making highly accurate database of observations. Gave European astronomers a new, accurate database of observations.
Kepler 3 Laws of planetary motion.
Galileo Secured mechanism's place in modern science. Turned the newly nvented telescope heavenward and became an outspoken advocate of the Sun-Centered system.
Newton Used the law of gravity and his laws of motion to show why Kepler's laws worked, uniting the physics of the heavens and earth. United terrestrial physics and astronomy.
