QuestionAnswer
What is Conduction? It is the transfer of energy through direct contact.
What is Convection? It is the transfer of heat by circulation due to density difference.
What is Radiation? It is the transfer of energy by waves that do not need a medium.
What is a Conductor? It is a material that allows heat/energy to easily transfer.
What is an Insulator? It is a material that does not allow heat/ energy to easily transfer.
What is Kinetic Energy? The energy of matter in motion.
What is Potential Energy? Stored energy in an object due to it's position.
What is Electrical Energy? Energy made through the flow of electric current (electrons) through a conductor.
What is Radiant Energy? Light; Electromagnetic radiation.
What is Nuclear Energy? Energy released when atoms split (fission) or join together (fusion).
What is Thermal Energy? Energy due to the kinetic energy of atoms in an object; heat.
What Chemical Energy? Energy stored in the bonds of chemical compounds that is released during reactions.
What is Elastic Energy? Energy stored in an object when it is compressed or stretched.
What is Sound Energy? Energy transferred through a medium by a longitudinal wave.
What is Gravitational Energy? Energy of an object due to it's high position compared to it's low position.
What transformation is a light bulb? Electrical to Radiant and Thermal.
What transformation is nuclear power plant? Nuclear to Electrical.
What transformation is a windmill? Mechanical to Electrical.
What is Mechanical Energy? Potential + Kinetic Energy.
What type of energy is a battery? Chemical.
