Unit 2 Vocabulary

| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Career | an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life that offers opportunities for progress |
| Cerificate | an offical documnet that proves you have successfullly completed specific course content and have the skills for that area of work |
| Commission | earnings based on how much a worker sells |
| Contract Worker | employees of an employment agency who work for other businesses on a temporary basis |
| Deduction | amount of money taken from an employee's gross pay for taxes, insurance, Social Security and other benefits |
| Education and Training Requirements | the instructional background and skill needed to qualify for employment |
| Fringe Benefits | extras provided by employers (other than wages) |
| Full Time | working at least 40 hours per week |
| Global Economy | worldwide financial management system |
| Job Benefits | the extras an employer provides employess in addition to pay such as insurance or paid time off |
| Job Duty | a task one is expected to perform on the job |
| Job Qualifications | a special skill, knowledge or ability that enables a person to perform a particular occupation |
| License | a permit to do a particual thing or allow an activity |
| Nontraditional Occupation | a career in which one gender has 25 percent or less of total workers |
| Part-Time Job | jobs requiring less than 35-40 hours a week, depending on the employer |
| Piecemeal | wages to be paid based on a wauntity produced or number of repetition performed |
| Salary | fixed amount of money earned, regardless of hours worked |
| Sectors | a form of employment linked to specific periods of the year |
