Polygamy the practice whereby men or women have multiple spouses.
Polyandry the rare practice of a women having more than one husband.
Polygyny the pracitce where the man has more than one wife.
Monogamy forming sexually exclusive marriage with one spouse at a time
Exogamy is the practice of selecting mates from outside one’s group. May be based on religion, territory, or racial-ethnic identity.
Patriarchy a society or group where men have power over women
Matriarchy a society or group where women have power over men
Family a primary group of people often based on ancestry, marriage, or adoption who for a cooperative economic unit to care for offspring and each other who are committed to maintaining the group over time.
