| Embeddedness | The extent to which an employee is tied to an organization and to the surrounding community. |
| Employee retention | The act of keeping employees; retaining good workers is particularly important. |
| Employee separation | The act of terminating the employment of workers. |
| Exit interview | Face to face discussion conducted by an organization to learn why an employee is quitting. |
| Involuntary turnover | Employee separation that occurs because the employer chooses to terminate the employment relationship. |
