Formation of Oxbow lake

QuestionAnswer
What shape is an oxbow lake? A horse-shoe shape.
Where can an oxbow lake be found in most Irish rivers? The old stage.
Name a river where the oxbow lake can be found in Ireland. The Shannon, the Nore and the Moy rivers.
What other formation is the oxbow lake a continuation of? Meander Formation.
During times of flood, what happens? The discharge and velocity of the river are increased, as is its erosive power.
What is the lake which has dried up called? A 'meander scar'or a 'mort lake'.
What fills this meander scar after it has been repeatedly flooded? Alluvium.
