Neurotransmitters and their actions

Acettylcholine (ACh) Used in the parasympathetic nervous system. Acts on receptors in smooth muscle to control blood pressure and digestion, in cardiac muscle to control heart rate, and in exocrine glands
Dopamine (DA) Used primarily in the Central Nervous System (CNS) to control mood and coordinated movement.
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) Used in the brain to regulate signal delivery
Norepinephrine Used in the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the sympathetic nervous system. in the brain, involved in mood and emotions. In the periphery, acts on receptors to control blood pressure, cardiac function, and digestion
Serotonin (5-HT) Used in the peripheral nervous system and the CNS. In the periphery, acts on receptors in smooth muscle (Blood vessels and the lining of the gastrointestinal tract). in the brain, involved in moon and emotions
