Burn Wound Staging
Question | Answer |
---|---|
First-degree burn | Epidermal layers damaged, causing redness and possibly peeling, but no blisters |
Second-degree burn | Epidermis, and dermis skin layers damaged, causing redness, blisters, swelling and pain. Scarring is possible |
Third-degree burn | Destruction of epidermis and dermis layer, with possible damage to tissue underneath. Permanent scarring is problematic. Pain may not be present immediately because sensory nerve endings are typically damaged or destroyed. Medical Treatment! |
