Week 3 Vocab for Poem

TermDefinition
relevant important to, connected to, or significant to an issue, event, or person in some way.
repetition a technique in which a sound, word, phrase, or line is repeated for emphasis or unity. It often helps to reinforce meaning and create an appealing rhythm.
rhyme scheme a pattern of end rhymes in a poem. This is noted by assigning a letter of the alphabet, starting with a, to each line. Lines that rhyme are given the same letter.
stanza a group of two or more lines that form a unit in a poem. Each of these may have the same number of lines, or the number of lines may vary.
tone expresses the writer's attitude toward his or her subject. Words such as angry, sad, and humorous can be used to describe different ones.
