PQRSTU Palpitate, Quality, Region, Symptom, Timing, You think it is?
Analgesics Pain relief with out loosing consciousness -Pain killers and Narcotics
Phantom in limb that isn't there
Acute Pain sudden or onset - can cause anxiety
Persistent/Chronic Pain 6 weeks or longer, can cause depression
Transmission Gate Theory Stimulus travel to spine (i.e. rubbing a bump) to distract/block pain from message to brain.
Transduction Block chemicals at the site of the injury
Perception First become aware
Transmission Rubbing or stimulus of fibers/ large sensory
Pain Tolerence Before it stops you from doing things
Antagonist Reverse effects by competing to get to receptor site (Narcan)
