QuestionAnswer
What is asexual reproduction? Offspring are created from a single organism (parent) and are exact copies of that parent.
Define Bianary Fission. Divide into two identical cells
Define Budding. An offspring grows out of the parents body. Not an equal dividing like binary fission.
Define Fragmentation/Regeneration. Offspring form out of broken off pieces of the parent.
What is sexual reproduction? The genetic information from two parents is combined to create offspring with unique genetic traits.
Define Internal Fertilization. Fertilization (egg + sperm) occurs within the female.
Define External Fertilization. Fertilization occurs outside the female in a watery medium
Define Angiosperm. Flowering plant
Define Anther. Produces pollen (sperm)
Define Filament. Stalk holds anther up
Define Stamen. Filament and stalk (male part)
Define Stigma. Sticky part where pollen sticks
Define Style. Stalk that support
Define Ovary. Where fertilization occurs (pollen + egg = seed) seeds are formed, turned into fruit
What is pollination? hummingbirds, birds and bees are a few animals that are attracted to pollen (pollinators) - pollinators are attracted by nectar.pollen attaches to pollinator and brushes sticky stigma
