Force,Motion,Energy
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Force | A push or pull that causes an object to move, stop, or change direction. |
| Work | A change in the position of the object. This force only happens if the object moves. |
| Gravity | A pull on objects towards each other. Also, the force that pulls objects toward the center of Earth |
| Friction | A force where objects resist each others motion when they slide over each other. This causes objects to slow down. |
| Air resistance | A type of friction found in the air on Earth. |
| Magnetic Force | Can cause objects to move without being touched by attraction. Can also repel objects. |
| Mechanical Energy | The energy of moving objects or motion. |
| Sound Energy | Energy produced from vibrations and travels in waves. |
| Light Energy | Energy that can travel through space and is seen by the human eye. |
| Electrical Energy | The flow of energy (electrons) through a conductor. |
| Thermal Energy | The type of energy that causes a change in temperature of objects. |
| Energy Transformations | Energy changes from one form to another through interactions with objects. |
| Hypothesis | What you think will happen in an experiment |
| Variable | What can be changed in an testable experiment. Only 1 can be changed for accurate results. |
| Control Variable | The variable that does not change. |
| Experimental Variable | The variable that does change. |
| Conclusion | What happened in the experiment based on your data. |
| Position | Where something is located. |
| Motion | How the object is moving (direction and speed). |
