Apps for Academics WORD 2016 Unit Test Vocab

Word Processing a software used to create, edit . and print text documents, and also has features that make it easy to add graphics to the text. Word processing software can be used to create letters, memos, flyers, essays, reports, books, etc(Microsoft Office Word 2016)
Italicize (Home Tab): makes you text slanted
Double Spacing (Home Tab): one blank line is in between the text lines, changes the spacing of lines to 2.0
New (File Tab): word command allowing you to create a blank document
Print/Print Preview (File Tab): word command allowing you to produce copies of documents on paper
Clipboard (Home Tab): saves all copied or cut text to be pasted
Font Color (Home Tab): changes the color of your text
Superscript (Home Tab): types very small letters just above the line of text
Bold (Home Tab): makes your text darker
Sort (Ascending and Descending) (Home Tab): arranges the selected text into alphabetical or numerical order
Center Alignment (Home Tab): align your content with the middle of the document
Shading (Home Tab): changes the color behind the selected text, paragraph, or table cell
Find (Home Tab): locates specified text in the document
Cover Page (Insert Tab): inserts a fully formatted cover page
Online Pictures (Insert Tab): finds and inserts pictures from a variety of online sources
Hyperlink (Insert Tab): inserts a link into your document for quick access to web-pages and files
Text Box (Insert Tab): inserts a text box into your document
Margins (default size) (Layout Tab): amount of space at the top, bottom, left, and right sides of your document, with a default size of one inch
Portrait (Layout Tab): a vertical layout; up and down
Page Color (Design Tab): choose a color for the background of the page
Thesaurus (Review Tab): suggests other words with similar meaning to the word you selected
Default Font and Font Size (Home Tab): preset or programmed setting of Calibri 11
Save (File Tab): word command allowing you to store a document in a storage device (H, C, L, E)
Cut (Home Tab): remove the selection and put it on clipboard so you can paste it somewhere else
Copy (Home Tab): puts a copy of the selection and puts it on the clipboard, ready to be pasted somewhere else
Paste (Home Tab): add content that is on the clipboard to the document
Save As (File Tab): word command allowing you to change the name of a document or storage location
Word Art (Insert Tab): inserts decorative text into the document
Open (File Tab): word command allowing you to retrieve a document previously saved
Close (File Tab): word command allowing you to close out of a document while still remaining on Word
Font (Home Tab): type style of text
Change Case (Home Tab): change the selected text to uppercase, lowercase, or any other common capitalization
Subscripts (Home Tab): types very small letters just below the line of text
Bullets (Home Tab): a symbol used to separate a list
Show/Hide (Home Tab): shows paragraph marks and other hidden formatting symbols such as spaces and tabs
Justified (Home Tab): aligns your content with both the left and right margins
Borders (Home Tab): adds lines around text or pictures
Select (Home Tab): selects all the text in the document
Blank Page (Insert Tab): inserts a blank page anywhere in your document
Shapes (Insert Tab): inserts ready-made shapes, such as circles, squares, and arrows
Smart Art (Insert Tab): inserts a graphic to "visually" communicate information, such as pyramids and cycles
Headers (Insert Tab): inserts information at the top of the document
Footers (Insert Tab): inserts information at the bottom of the document
Page Orientation (Layout Tab): switches between portrait and landscape layouts
Columns (Layout Tab): splits text and documents into two or more columns
Envelopes (Mailings Tab): creates and prints envelopes
Undo (Home Tab): undoes your last action
Redo (Home Tab): redoes your last action
Single Spacing (Home Tab): no blank lines are between your text lines, changes the spacing to 1.0
Underline (Home Tab): inserts a line underneath your text
Word Wrap (Automatic): in a text document, this feature automatically moves to the next line when the text hits the right margin
Increase Font (Home Tab): makes your text a bit bigger
Decrease Font (Home Tab): makes your text a bit smaller
Font Size (Home Tab): the size of the text
Highlight (Home Tab): makes text pop by highlighting it
Strikethrough (Home Tab): crosses out something by drawing a line through it
Numbering (Home Tab): automatically starts a numbered list
Left Alignment (Home Tab): aligns your content with the left margin
Right Alignment (Home Tab): aligns your content with the right margin
Page Borders (Design Tab): inserts a decorative border around the page
Tables (Insert Tab): a grid of rows and columns that organizes information so it is easy to find and understand
Table Rows (Insert Tab): information in a table that is arranged horizontally
Table Columns (Insert Tab): information in a table that is arranged vertically
Table Cells (Insert Tab): where a column and a row cross
Page Break (Insert Tab): ends the current page and inserts a new page
Charts (Insert Tab): inserts a chart to illustrate and compare data
Page Numbers (Insert Tab): inserts page numbers into a document
Symbols (Insert Tab): inserts symbols that are not on your keyboard, such as the copyright symbol
Landscape (Layout Tab): a horizontal layout; left and right
Watermark (Design Tab): inserts ghosted text behind the document, which is a great way to show that the document requires special treatment without distracting from the content
Spelling/Grammar Check (Review Tab): checks the spelling and grammar of the text in the document
Zoom (View Tab): opens the zoom dialog box to specify the zoom level of the document (shortcut on right corner of screen)
Labels (Mailings Tab): creates and prints labels
