Bi-directional Causality | you think that variable A is causing variable B to increase but really they are both affecting each other- causality is going both ways |
Third Variable Problem | an unspecified factor is causing both of your variables to change-although the factor may not be DIRECTLY affecting them |
Spurious Relationship | (fake, random) the variables may be changing just because of chance |
Contiguity-Causation Error | the variables may just be TEMPORARILY linked, it just may appear the one causes the other |
Why might someone comply (3 reasons) | 1. maintain equity 2. Gain Approval 3. Modeling |
What are the 6 types of requests in compliance? | 1. Lowballing 2. Foot in the door 3. Door in the face 4. Because 5. Thats not all 6. Pique technique |

demand characteristics | perceptual clues that communicate to the participant what behavior is expected (SETTINGS are a big factor) |
Experimenter Effects | the participant may have acted differently based on the experimenters Age, appearance, gender, etc. |
what are the 4 problems you want to avoid in an experiment? | Experimenter Bias Demand characteristics Experimenter Effects Evaluation Apprehension |
