Theophylline side effects are Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, epigastric pain, anorexia, hematamesis, headache, insomnia, restlessness, irritaibility, depression, abnormal speech & behavior, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, hypotension, seizures
Theophylline precautions are CHF, liver disease, obsese patients
Theophylline contraindications are uncontrolled arrhythmias & hyperthyroidism
Theophylline indications are stimulate RR and depth of breathing, pulmonary vasodilation, and bronchospasm
Theophylline dosage 6 mg/kg (average dose is 250 mg) Q6 * check serum levels often
Theophylline route of administration is IV or PO
Theophylline duration is 6-8 hours
Theophylline peak is varies according to route
Theophylline onset is rapid
Theophylline mechanism of action is Phosphodiesterase inhibitor, adenosine antagonist, catecholamine release
