Term Definition
Speed Is the distance an object travels in a unit of time
Average Speed Is found by dividing the total distance traveled by the total time taken
Acceleration Is the change in velocity divided by the time it takes for the change to occur
Inertia The tendency of an object to resist a change in it's motion
Instantaneous speed The speed of an object at one instant of time
Law of Conversation of Momentum The total momentum of a group objects remains constant unless outside forces act on the group
Mass Is the amount of matter in an object
Velocity The velocity of an object is the speed of the object and the direction of the motion
Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is"; it is the object's overall change in position
Relative location since any location must be expressed relative to something else
