| Arthrocentesis | aspiration of fluid from a joint using a needle |
| Arthrodesis | the stiffening of a joint by operative means |
| Arthroplasty | an operation to restore, as far as possible, the integrity & functional power of a joint |

| Tenotomy | surgical division of a tendon for relief of a deformity caused by congential or acquired shortening of a muscle, as in clubfoot |
