| Question | Answer |

| Atropine | Raises heart rate by interfering by interfering with vaginal impulses. Is given IVP at 0.5-1mg per dose every 3-5 minutes. Doses less than 0.5 may cause a paradoxical decreased heart rate. If client has hx of MI, should be given with precaution. |
| Digoxin toxicity | If client is nauseated and vision changes(halos), hold the drug and call provider. Arrhythmias develop if not treated. |
| Nifedipine | a calcium channel blocker, treats high blood pressure and heart disease. Smooth muscle(uterus) needs CA to contract. Nifedipine blocks CA, relaxing the muscle. |
| Lithium | should be taken with meals or milk to decrease GI upset |
| Potassium | Normal levels are 3.5-5. |
| Captopril | elevates K levels because it inhibits the formation of angiotensin ll and blocks aldosterone. The blocking of the aldostereone results in sodium excretion and potassium retention. High potassium can result in arrhythmia, and if untreated cardiac arrest |
